Delta to begin massive relocation effort at Los Angeles hub

Travelers beware: Delta Air Lines is about to begin a massive move of its operations at its Los Angeles hub.

It’s a gargantuan effort that will cause hassles for travelers and will require 20 other airlines to relocate at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Delta “will set off a move of airlines never before seen at a major U.S. airport,” said LAX operator Los Angeles World Airports in a press release.

Hartsfield-Jackson to host job fair

Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport will host a job fair March 30, with airport employers hiring for more than 1,000 jobs.

The job fair will be held next Thursday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Georgia International Convention Center. Those interested can register online.

Delta cancels more than 900 flights due to storm

Delta Air Lines has cancelled more than 900 flights due to the storm to hit the Northeast, including its two hubs in New York.

Atlanta-based Delta said snow and high winds are expected to disrupt operations. The airline has a hub at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and a domestic hub at LaGuardia Airport.

Free meals in coach class are coming back to Delta — at least on some routes in other cities.

After a test of free meals late last year, Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines is rolling out complimentary meals in the main cabin on some transcontinental flights. During last year’s test, Delta said it “saw a significant increase” in customer satisfaction scores.

Delta Air Lines is adding some new features to its app to ease the travel experience.

The Fly Delta app, first introduced in 2010, now includes interactive maps for Hartsfield-Jackson International and 14 other airports.

Starbucks gains visibility with atrium spot at Hartsfield-Jackson

A temporary Starbucks opened late last year near the domestic terminal atrium at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport has gained more visibility than an old location next to the security checkpoint, and will soon move into an even more-prominent permanent spot.

Flight operations are expected to be back to normal at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Monday after airlines recovered over the weekend from two days of storm-related flight cancellations.

Hundreds of flight cancellations and delays on Friday and Saturday left some stranded at the airport.
