Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport began using a new Airbus A380 gate on Concourse F on Tuesday.
An Air France A380 made a stop in Atlanta and became the first super jumbo jet to use the new gate on Hartsfield-Jackson’s international Concourse F.
The Atlanta airport spent $30 million for runway and taxiway widening and to modify Concourse E before the first Korean Air A380 landed in Atlanta in 2013.
Then, Hartsfield-Jackson in 2015 struck an agreement for a $13.78 million contract to modify gate F3 on Concourse F for the A380. The work involved building a second loading bridge, a new fuel pit, new escalator, elevator and stairs and an extension of a corridor.
